About Khatamel

A shared account book for people who already keep one — on paper, in a diary, or in a phone's notes.

Who runs it

Khatamel is built and run by Sharnam Info, from Surat, Gujarat, India. It has been running since 2026.

It is a small operation, not a large company, and the same people who write the software answer the email. If something here is wrong, the quickest way to get it fixed is to say so: sharnam.infosystem@gmail.com.

What it is

A ledger that more than one person can write in. You make a group — a committee, a shop and its customers, a family, a site and its workers — and each entry records who, how much, which way the money went, and when. Everybody who is in the group sees the same book, and the owner decides who may add an entry, who may change one, and who may delete.

That is the whole idea. Most of the trouble with a shared account book is not arithmetic; it is three people keeping three private records of the same money and finding out months later that they disagree. One book that everybody can see removes the argument before it starts.

There is a free plan, and paid plans that raise the limits. Prices and what each plan includes are on the Terms page.

What it deliberately is not

It is worth being plain about this, because the words “ledger” and “wallet” are used loosely.

  • It moves no money. It is a record of money that moved somewhere else. There is no wallet, no balance you can withdraw, and no payment between users.
  • It is not a bank and not connected to one. It reads no bank account and no UPI app. Somebody types what happened.
  • It is not accounting software. It does not file returns, does not produce a balance sheet, and does not replace an accountant.
  • It gives no advice. The guides and calculators are general explanations and arithmetic, not tax, legal or financial advice for your situation.
